Living Life as a Watchman

Our lives are full of responsibility – whether we are parents entrusted with the lives of our children, leaders accountable for staff or congregations, or friends looking out for the health and wellbeing of those closest to us.

Such responsibility is not unlike the task entrusted in ancient times to the watchman on the walls of the city who were charged with looking out for the first view of the approaching enemy.

The Hebrew prophet Ezekiel described the consequences of a watchman who fails in their responsibility: “If the Watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, so that the people are not warned, and the sword comes, and takes any one of them; that man is taken away in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at the watchman’s hand” (Ezekiel 33:6).

It is a solemn responsibility to watch for and alert others about the sword which is coming.

The sword today is coming to destroy our fundamental Judeo-Christian values which are the very foundation on which our western culture was formed.  The Victorian Parliament is seeking to dispense with the Lord’s Prayer as a symbolic dismissal of these very foundations.

The sword today is coming to destroy our children’s futures, filling them with gender theories which confuse them and alienating them from parents who seek to stand in the gap for their vulnerable children.  I once spoke to a mother who had been monitored by Child Protection for home schooling her ill child instead of enrolling him in a state school like his siblings.  Another mother I know has fought – and lost – a custody battle which was initiated when she refused to facilitate a transition for her daughter who expressed a desire to become a boy after being indoctrinated by a safe-school group.

The sword today is coming to destroy the vulnerable – literally – through abortion (in place up to birth in Victoria since 2008) where girls and children with disabilities are particularly vulnerable.  From 19 June we will also have a regime of assisted suicide (making death-inducing drugs available for patients to take) and euthanasia (the administration of death-inducing drugs to patients by doctors).  Such a regime is targeting the most vulnerable in our society.

It is the role of every parent, of every faith-based person, and of every leader to be on alert to the threats which are surrounding and threatening to overwhelm us.

I am constantly amazed by the number of people who don’t stay up-to-date with the news because it’s too discouraging, or people who refuse to participate in debates around life, education or values for fear of causing offense.

I encourage you to be on alert today for the threats which are coming to destroy our families, our culture, our foundations, and our futures.  Someone’s life may literally depend on you Living Life as a Watchman.

Bless you Judy, for what you are experiencing is what the Lord spoke of in Matthew 10

“Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.
    (Mat 10:34 NIV)

Focus on the issue, whether it be abortion or gender indoctrination or whatever, plead the case of righteousness fearlessly and graciously Judy, for though your church or indeed family might be hostile, Jesus is cheering you on.

    Praying for you.

Thank you, Rachel. It was so encouraging to read your blog. Several times we have tried to bring up some of these topics only to be told we’re being divisive. Perhaps we need to try to get more people to read the blog and you might be more authoritative than just a person with a point of view.

Father, forgive us we pray. For too long your church has slumbered. Too many of us walk around in ignorance and though the world has an excuse for ignorance perhaps, we your church have no excuse. We have your Words of life, we have no excuse.

Help us to awaken our brothers and sisters we pray. Give us the words, your words, to raise the alarm among our pews. In Jesus precious and holy name we pray, Amen
